Health & Vaccine Requirements

General Health Requirements

To protect all guests, dogs must be in good general health at the time of drop-off. We reserve the right to decline boarding for dogs showing signs of illness.

  • Free of contagious illness — Dogs showing symptoms of illness will not be admitted
  • Proof of vaccinations required at drop-off — Bring records or email them before hand
  • Annual physical exam
  • Intestinal parasite screening
  • Heartworm test — Dogs only

Proof of required vaccinations is required at the time of booking. Please email vaccination records to (info@caninecc.com)

If your pet experiences a medical concern during their stay, the Highland Park Animal Hospital team is on standby to provide prompt veterinary care when needed.

Dog Vaccinations

Rabies: A viral disease primarily transmitted by wildlife, but pets and people can also become infected. If left untreated, it is fatal—but it is preventable with vaccination. Texas requires rabies vaccination for all cats and dogs.

DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus): This combination vaccine protects against several viral infections, which is especially important in young dogs. It is considered a core vaccine for all dogs, even those that don’t interact with others, as these viruses can be present in the environment.
Leptospirosis (Lepto): A bacterial infection transmitted by wildlife that can cause kidney and liver failure—and can also affect humans. Both rural and urban dogs are at risk. Vaccination is recommended for all dogs.

Bordetella (Kennel Cough): Protects against severe forms of kennel cough caused by the Bordetella bacteria. While not 100% preventative, it significantly reduces the risk and severity of the disease.

Canine Influenza Virus (CIV): This vaccine protects against two strains of canine flu that can cause severe respiratory illness. It offers long-term protection, especially for dogs in high-traffic environments like boarding facilities or daycare.

Cat Vaccinations

We also require a yearly Physical Exam, Heartworm Test, and Intestinal Parasite Test.

Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia (FVRCP): Similar to DHPP in dogs, this combination vaccine protects against multiple viral pathogens. These illnesses can be especially dangerous for kittens. It is considered a core vaccine for all cats.

Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV): A viral infection that weakens the immune system and can lead to anemia, cancer, or death. It spreads through saliva, urine, and other bodily fluids—often in multi-cat households. Vaccination is recommended for at-risk cats, particularly those that go outdoors or interact with other cats.

Flea & Tick Protection

Capstar for all guests (fast acting adult flea treatment).
